Our Year 12 boys should be commended for the effort and application towards their examinations that they have displayed over the last couple of weeks.

It is now time for the feedback and this is vital in the learning as they refine their content knowledge before the Higher School Certificate in October. It is often a time for many Year 12 students to think they have done the hard yards and lose concentration, however this is the time of consolidation and teamwork. For those who have not done as well in the trial examinations as they had hoped, it can be a time of disappointment and anxiety. As teachers and parents we need to continually encourage and motivate. Suggestive strategies could include encouraging group work and study groups, using study periods wisely and reading and understanding the feedback given.

This week we held the annual College athletics carnival. Unfortunately I was unable to attend the day though from all accounts I have heard it was a great day, even if the weather started out a bit dismal. It is disappointing to see that some boys did not attend the day, as it is these days that develop school spirit.

Next Thursday night we will be holding our Year 12 HSC Onshow evening in The Waterford Hall from 5:00pm. This event will showcase the major works of our Creative and Performing Arts students and I encourage all members of the community to come along and have a view the exhibiton.
