Peer Support

St Paul’s Peer Support program hopes to foster greater resilience and connectedness amongst the youngest members of the College, Year 7. This program has been delivered by the selected Year 11 Peer Leaders who have already delivered three of the eight sessions. The three sessions have focused on empathy, optimism and positive self talk.

Some of the activities have ranged from setting group agreements, which sets a safe space for each Year 7 student to work in, role playing, brainstorming activities that outline optimistic and pessimistic attitudes to quizzes that show how positive self talk can help.

Five year 11 students will also be accompanying Year 7 on their ski camp. This again aims to ensure that there is positive contact between Junior and Senior students and that relationships between these year groups continues to grow.

It is heartening to watch the peer leaders instruct the younger students to be able to equip them in positively dealing with situations. The peer leaders are to be congratulated on their efforts so far as do the Year 7 students for their willingness to co-operate.
